War against corruption has come to stay in Nigeria - President Buhari insists

President Muhammadu Buhari has insisted that the fight against corruption has come to stay in Nigeria.

Buhari made the statement when unveiling the African Union’s anti-graft campaign at the 30th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the AU, on Sunday, January 28, The Nation reports.

He reiterated the commitment of Nigeria to the continuous fight against corruption.

The president advocated for strong institutions as necessary condition for winning the fight against corruption.

He urged African leaders to empower anti-corruption agencies and insulate them from political influence.

According to Buhari, African nations could entrench good governance by building synergy between the executive, judiciary and legislature.

He, however, noted that fighting corruption is not going to be a straight forward task ascorruption will always fight back.

He said African leaders must remain resolute irrespective of any setback faced in the fight against corruption.

Meanwhile, the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on social media Lauretta Onochie has accused all past Nigerian leaders of having corruption tied to them expect her boss.
Onochie tweeted a graphic on Saturday, January 27 claiming of all Nigeria's past leaders only President Buhari's named is not tied to corruption.
