Bayelsa governor Dickson calls for restructuring of Nigeria before 2019 polls

Bayelsa state governor Seriake Dickson has praised the latest moves to restructureNigeria by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Premium Times reports that Dickson on Friday, January 26, commended the APC’s restructuring committee chaird by Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai over the recommendations it made in its report recently submitted to party chairman John Odigie-Oyegun.

According to the report, while Dickson believes that there is still a lot to be done because restructuring a nation as big as Nigeria can be cumbersome; he was however impressed by the moves made theAPC so far.“

Even though we have a long way to go to fine-tune this, I commend and appreciate their commitment to building a stable, equitable and, therefore, prosperous Nigeria,” the governor told reporters at the Bayelsa State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

Dickson however argued that the entire matter must be resolved before 2019 elections, noting that politicians can no longer play hide-and-seek with the issue of restructuring.

He said:“Nigeria must be restructured before 2019 elections. Where there’s a will there’s a way.”
