After Buhari finishes his tenure, it will now be my turn to become President'' Rochas Okorocha

Imo state governor and chairmanof the APC governors forum,Rochas Okorocha, says he will take over the reigns as President of Nigeria oncePresident Buhari completes his tenure in 2023. Okorocha made the revelation when he received some Imo political stakeholders in his office yesterday April 16th

''“Buhari will win again and again and after Buhari, the turn will come to south-east and it will be the turn of Okorocha” Okorocha said

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho threatens MAJOR changes with Paul Pogba in firing line

Mourinho was infuriated by United’s performance in the 1-0 home defeat to WestBrom on Sunday which has jeopardised their hopes of finishing runners-up.

And he will give other players a chance in the rearranged League clash at Bournemouth tomorrow with a warning that Wembley places are up for grabs regardless of status, pricetag or reputation.Asked if he would rotate his squad he said: “Rotating is not the right word.

If I play a player against Bournemouth and the playeris phenomenal, he plays in the semi-final.“So it is not rotating, because rotating looks like a player that plays against Bournemouth is in order to give a rest to somebody who is going to play against Spurs in the semi-final.

“It is an opportunity for some people to play and to try to get a place in the team for Spurs. Some of the guys that played against West Brom don’t have a place in that team [for the Bournemouth game].

What is the criteria for a manager to choose a team? I only know one criteria – it is the way they play. That is the only way I can select players. Or do you want me to go for the price they cost, or their salary, or their beautiful face or… The only way is to go with performance.

”Pogba, who has been in and out of the team this year, was substituted after 56 minutes on Sunday just a week after he had been the two-goal hero in the second-half comeback in the Manchester derby.Asked if he was disappointed with the £89mmidfielder’s performance,Jose Mourinhoadded: “It was not just him. And he had a yellow card so he was in a more difficult position than others.

“When you are playing with only two midfield players you cannot play with one player at risk of not being able to make a foul. You can do it if your team is not losingthe ball but our team was losing the ball so easily with the complication, everything was complicated, so we were losing lots of balls, with turnings and flicks and tricks

.“The midfield players and central defenders are at risk of one touch, one late challenge and they are out, so Paul was out [substituted] because of the yellow card, because of in terms of the way he played hewas not worse than some of the others who were on the pitch for 90 minutes.”Mourinho is unhappy at the lack of consistency in performance levels of his team.

During an up and down season Manchester United have lost to Huddersfield, West Brom and Newcastle as well as Bristol City in the League Cup, and been held to draws by Southampton, Burnley and Leicester, leaving them 16 points adrift of their neighbours and newly-crowned champions Manchester City.

Consistency has nothing to do with age,” he added. “It has to do with personality, it has to do with the way you live for football, what is your priority in your life, what are your ambitions.“It is not to do with age. I met players 30 years old, not consistent at all, and I found boys of 18, 19, 20, real men, real pros. It is not about the age.

”Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Scott McTominay, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones – all on the bench on Sunday – could all start at Bournemouth inMourinho’s big shake-up.

Even if those who weremost vocal in condemnation when the situation appeared very dire are now uttering some muted acknowledgment that it hasimproved, we must continue to draw inspiration from well-meaning and right thinking Nigerians who were gracious enough to publicly acknowledge that they are saving some money from diesel  and the money they used to spend for generators; theyare running their generators for fewer hours; and they are gettingcomparably more power than before. Politicians are preoccupied with next election, but I'm bothered more about security and the economy - President Buhari tells Theresa May

The three-pronged focus of the current administration resonatedthrough the conversation, asPresident Muhammadu Buhariheld a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister,Theresa May today at 10, Downing Street, London."We campaigned on three major issues, to secure the country, revive the economy and fight corruption,” said the President.

“We have elections next year, politicians are already preoccupied with the polls, but I am bothered more about securityand the economy," he stressed.

Recalling that Nigeria and Britain have a long history of cooperation on several fronts, President Buhari stated: "People ought to know how they arrived where they are, if they would move forward. It was a mistake for us to have stopped the teaching of history as a subject inschools, but we are returning it to the curriculum now.

"He commended British companies likeUnilever, Cadbury, and many others, "who have stood with Nigeria through thick and thin. Even when we fought a Civil War, they never left.

"But likeOliver Twist, we ask for more investments. We are encouraging more British companies to come to Nigeria. We appreciate the support you have given in training and equipping our military, particularly in the war against insurgency, but we want to also continue to work with you on trade and investment.

"President Buhari briefed Prime Minister May on the strides in agriculture, which he said has putNigeria firmly on the road to foodself-sufficiency.

"I am very pleased with the successes in agriculture," he said, adding: "We have cut rice importation by about 90%, made lots of savings of foreign exchange, and generated employment. People had rushed to the cities to get oil money, at the expense of farming. But luckily, they are now going back to the farms. Even professionals are going back to the land. We aremaking steady progress on the road to food security.

"On education, President Buhari said more investment was being made, because "people can look after themselves if well educated. In this age of technology, education is very important. We need well-staffed and well-equipped institutions to move into the next generation."

Climate change and environmental issues also came up for discussion, and President Buhari brought up the necessity of inter-basin water transfer from Congo Basin to Lake Chad.

According to him: "The Lake Chadis now about 10% of its original size, and it is perhaps one of the reasons our youths dare both theSahara Desert and the Mediterranean, to get to Europe. But if there is inter-basin water transfer, about 40 million people in Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad, and other countries stand to benefit. I made the case during the Climate Change Summit in France. If Lake Chad is recharged,it will reduce the number of youths coming to Europe to increase social problems. We brought back about 4,000 people from Libya recently. Almost all ofthem were below 30, and Libya was not their final destination. They were headed to Europe.

"Prime Minister May, in her remarks, said Britain would continue to work with Nigeria in the areas of training and equipping the military. She was particular about abduction of young schoolgirls by Boko Haram, noting that Britain would continue to give Nigeria needed assistance.

The Prime Minister said the Buhari administration has "been making good progress on the economy," and urged it to maintain the focus, despite approaching elections, and increase in political activities.

On education and climate change, she declared: "Good grounding in education is good. It is important to equip young people for today'sworld. It is also a good bastion and defence against modern slavery. The issue of the environment and climate change is very important, because of its impact on many countries in the Commonwealth. Stability at homeis important, to curb illegal migration.

"Prime Minister May, who commended President Buhari forthe much he has been doing on improving trade and business forNigeria, noted that it was also time to boost intra-Commonwealth trade.

''Only Buhari can determine if he wants Osinbajo as his running mate in 2019'' APC says

Spokesperson of the All Progressive Congress APC, Abdullahi Bolaji, says it is only President Buhari who can determine if he wants to run with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate in 2019. This is after President Buhari must have emerged the party's presidential flagbearer after a presidential primary must have been conducted.

Bolaji made the clarification few days after President Buhari declared interest to run for a second term in office. Some Nigerians have expressed fears that President Buhari might drop Osinbajo and pick someone else to run with him in 2019.

In an interview with Punch, Bolajistated that the party has no hand in chosing who President Buhari will run with

''It is not the duty of the party to impose someone on the presidential candidate.  In any case, if the President emerges as the party’s candidate, we won’t impose anyone on him. Remember he (Buhari)is not going to be the sole aspirant? But it is the duty and the responsibility of the candidate to pick whosoever he likes and he is ready to work with.  It is not the duty of the party to pick or impose anyone on him. No, that is not democracy. So, if President Buhari emerges as our candidate, he is the one to pick and also announce his running mate.”Bolaji said

President Buhari, in 2014, picked Osinbajo as his running mate for the 2015 election which they won. Osinbajo was said to have been nominated by the National leader of APC, Bola Tinubu.
