Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho rotated Rashford and Martial in the wide left role for the first half of the season.But in January, United swooped to sign Sanchez from Arsenal in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
However, Sanchez has not been able to have the anticipated impact with just two goals for the club and Mourinho’s preference for Sanchez has seen Rashford and Martial become frustrated on the sidelines.Both players are currently being linked with moves away from Old Trafford in the summer.
And when asked whether Sanchez’s arrival stunted Rashford and Martial’s development, Scholes told BT Sport: “I think it did a little bit.
“Marcus [Rashford] and [Anthony] Martial, I think it stopped them playing.“Was Sanchez a player at that time United needed? Possibly don’t think so.
We know the qualities he has got, he’s had a great career.
