Arnold Schwarzenegger undergoes emergency open-heart surgery after failed experimental valve replacement procedure

Arnold Schwarzenegger, 70, has undergone emergency open-heart surgery after a failed valve replacement procedure.

Sources close to the Terminator actor said he went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Thursday to have a scheduled catheter valve replacement. The former governor of California developed complications during the risky procedure, leading to an emergency open-heart surgery that reportedly lasted several hours.

As of today, his condition following the operation was described as stable.

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho issues challenge to Paul Pogba ahead of Swansea clash

And the Manchester United boss added further fuel to suggestions of a rift with his £89m midfielder by refusing to praise him for his midweek display for France.

Pogba showed signs of a return to his best by scoring France’s second goal with a 30-yard free-kick after setting up Klylian Mbappe for the first in a 3-1 win over Russia.

But his return to United’s starting line-up for today’s home clash with Swansea remains uncertain after Mourinho swerved the chance to say the midweek performance in St Petersburg could prove the turning point in Pogba’s season by snapping: “I don’t comment on my players’ performances in national teams.

”He gave a typically cryptic answer when asked what Pogba’s poor recent club form is down to. “Ask him. Ask him, when you geta chance, what he thinks about it.”

When asked what he could do to get the best out of him, he replied: “I work. It’s the only thing I can do. I cannot do anything else.”

But Mourinho was more forthcoming whenhe denied Pogba was still struggling for fullfitness following a two-month absence earlier in the season with a badly torn hamstring.

“He is very fine after the injury,” he said. “It was a difficult injury, it was an injury that with other players, other clubs, other medical assessments can end in surgery. His option, with the medical opinions, was not to go to the surgery table and his recovery was really, really good.

He is more than fine in relation to his recovery from the injury which is an area sometimes where you have a recurrence. In his case, not at all. It’s [his form] nothing to do with his injury. His recovery was good.

”Pogba has told club sources he will not get involved in a public slanging match with Mourinho insisting he will “do his talking on the pitch”.

Meanwhile Mourinho insists he has no regrets about hauling off Luke Shaw at half-time of United’s last game but says the left-back could get a surprise reprieve today if Ashley Young fails a fitness test on a knee injury picked up on England duty against Italy.

He said: “If he’s available Shaw is always anoption. Young was available to play against Brighton but I started with Shaw, so that’s not a problem. He’s selected. He’s in the 18.

”As for his controversial substitution against Brighton, he added: “He didn’t ask me the question [why he was being replaced] – I told him. What happened sincethen? Nothing. I am the coach. I make the changes I want to do.

If I want to change the player in minute five then I change the player in minute five. If I want to change in minute 98, I change in minute 98. The moment when a new rule comes to football that forbids managers to do that then I become a pundit, not a manager.

“Will he be here next season? I think so. ButI always say the door is open for everyone so no problem for him but I think so.

”No2 keeper Sergio Romero, who has played all of United’s domestic cup games this season, is out for several weeks and set to miss the FA Cup semi-final after suffering a badly bruised leg in a collision with Diego Costa on international duty for Argentina in midweek.

Obasanjo’s coalition reacts to Danjuma’s statement, says security agencies have been corrupted

The Coalition for Nigeria Movement led by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, has raised concerns that security agencies in the country may have been corrupted by the government ahead of the 2019 general elections.

The Punch reports that spokesman for the group, Akin Osuntokun, said the statement by a former minister of defence, Lt Gen Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), that the military was failing to protect Nigerians from attacks should not be dismissed.

He faulted the claims by security heads thatthere were plans by some groups to disrupt the processes leading to the 2019 elections.

Osuntokun said: “It all sounds funny to me. I don’t know any group that meets that description but why would anyone want to disrupt the 2019 elections? The only people that would want to disrupt the elections arethe APC which has sensed its imminent defeat.

“If what Gen. Danjuma said is true whereby our protectors have become murderers, then it means they are the ones that should be feared. They are the ones that should be suspected.

“If you can extrapolate from what Gen. Danjuma said, that means Nigerians are at the mercy of the government or the army that is colluding. The people we should fearare (those in ) the government.”

This government is completely compromised'' Tunde Bakare

Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly and one time vice presidential candidate, Tunde Bakare, says Nigerians can shut down the government as a result of the repeated herdsmen killings.

According to him, the recent directive by the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, that vigilante groups and weapons bearing individuals should surrender their weapons without mking reference to the herdsmen, shows that the Buhari-led administration is completely compromised.

According to The Cable, Bakare said this when he spoke on the sidelines of “the real cost of subsidy”, an event organised by Enough is Enough, a coalition of youth advocacy groups in partnership with Facility for Oil Sector Transformation (FOSTER)yesterday March 29th.

“This is why I said this government is compromised completely. If you are making such a rule, let it be a statute of general application, let it apply to all. Nigerians to wake up, shine their eyes and put their own destiniesinto their hands. They should fight for themselves. There are several ways to do it. Civil unrest is one of them, protest is another. We (Nigerians) can shut this government down. We have the numbers and we will show them that we have done it before and we will do it again.” he said

'Don't allow yourself to be used again'' PDP tells Bola Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to stop playing god as Nigerians can decide on the leadership that best suits their desires without any body’s control.

The party also advised Tinubu not to allow himself to be used a second time as he still bears a gross part of the blame for the enthronement of this incompetent, divisive, nepotic andinherently corrupt administrationof President Muhammadu Buhari, which has brought the nation to its knees in three years.

PDP National Publicity Secretary,Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Thursday, said Asiwaju Tinubu’s speech, at his colloquium, rather than being a damage of the PDP, ended up amplifying an admittance of the failure of President Buhari and the APC administration.

The party said without listening to the prompting of any politician, Nigerians across boardhave taken the liberty to accept PDP’s apology which was made patriotically in the overall interest of national healing, reconciliation, unity and cohesion.

''The PDP watched with amusement as Asiwaju Tinubu struggled with words to appease President Buhari and give him assurances that he can win a second term electionin the face of mass failure both in governance and in their discredited, rejected and troubled platform.  It was a direct admittance of failure and indictment on President Buhari’s administration, when Asiwaju pointedly told the President that the ship of the nation, under his (Buhari’s) watch, still needsto be rescued, almost threeyears down the line. It is tragic that Asiwaju had to tutor his visitor, who had no policy direction since his election in 2015, by engaging in a revision of the programmes and policies of the PDP, such as the leasing system, the mortgage and pension schemes which boosted the economy and directly impacted on the lives of Nigerians. More pathetic is the fact that the APC leader presented the PDP programmes as if he was introduc''ing novel ideas in the economy. This clearly stood with our position that the APC government isincompetent and lacking inideas of how to move the nation forward. While we congratulate the Lagos Governor Emeritus on his birthday, the PDP considers it needful, to forewarn him to study the current ambience of Nigerian politics as it relates to the failures of the Buhari Presidency and the fact that the citizens have since rejected this Presidency and the APC, so that Asiwaju will not find himself swimming against the tide.

Nigerian Navy discovers Illegal refineries with 4m per-day capacity in Rivers State

Nigerian Navyreveal that it has discovered six new illegal refineries with combined capacity to refine four million litres of crude oil daily in Alakiri, Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers.

Capt. Victor Choji, Executive Officer of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Pathfinder Port Harcourt, disclosed this while destroying one of the illegal refineries on Thursday in Alakiri, Asari-Toru.

“The refinery (in Alakiri) has capacity to produce one million litres of refined petroleum products daily, while the five other refineries have production-capacity of three million litres daily,”he said. Choji said the refineries were discovered through intensive intelligence gathering and undercover operations by naval troops.

He said the navy deployed Swam Buggy machines to crush the metallic storages and its pipelines to make it impossible for operators of the refineries to rehabilitate the facilities. “This operation is focused on hitting the very heart of their infrastructure, so that the operators do not have capacity toregroup and resume their illicit activities.

We realised that whenever we set ablase the refineries without the use of Swam Buggy machine, days after our troops leave the scene, the oilthieves return and revive the refineries. So, the Navy came up with this strategy to ensure that the pipeline network and metallicstorages at the illegal facility are completely crushed".

The executive officer said the swam buggy approach was also adopted to address health concern raised by residents over carbon emissions (black soot) in the atmosphere in the state and environs.  He said that the strategy had led to significant reduction of soot in the atmosphere while also improving aquatic life in the maritime environment.

“We started siphoning petroleum products first before destroying the illegal refineries as part of measures to eliminate soot in theatmosphere. After siphoning the product, it is then taken out of thearea and handed over to authorities for testing and analysis,”he said.  Choji said it would take troops about seven days to move the petroleum products and destroy the six illegal refineries.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte issues stars with Champions League warning ahead of Spurs tie

Chelsea go into the London derby at Stamford Bridge lying five points behind their fourth-placed rivals and, with only seven games to go in the Premier League season after the match, anything other than a win would leave Conte’s team with an almost impossible task.

And the Chelsea manager is struggling with injuries to two of his key players, with Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Danish defender Andreas Christensen both returning from the international break injured.

“If we win, we go very close to Tottenham,” said Conte. “Otherwise, it will be difficult to take a place in the Champions League.“Nothing is impossible. But we have to win every game, not make mistakes, and not drop points in this final run of the season.

“Our target for this final stretch is to take a place in the Champions League and reach the final of the FA Cup, and then try and winit. These must be our targets.”

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that top scorer Harry Kane could make a surprise early comeback at Stamford Bridge after three weeks out withankle ligament problems but Conte has warned his team that their opponents are not just a one man side and have other players that can cause Chelsea problems.

Conte said: “We are talking about one of thebest strikers in the world. When you have a striker who scores 30 goals every season, for sure when he’s missing you feel it.“But Tottenham have many talented players. They play good football with great intensity. In the past, they showed that, despite Kane missing games, that did not change.

“We are talking about a great team, a really good manager, many talented players in this team. I have great respect for Tottenham. In these last few years, they have grown a lot. Now they are one of the best teams in England.”

Courtois withdrew from the Belgium squadthis week with a hamstring problem and returned to Chelsea for treatment, while Christensen was sent home by the Danes suffering from fatigue.

Conte will monitor the duo over the next 24hours before making a decision but the Chelsea coach has a problem if Christensenis ruled out, with his normal potential replacement, Brazilian David Luiz, now out for three weeks with a knee problem. Gary Cahill, left out by England this past fortnight, is the man likely to step in.

Conte said: “We have to check this couple of situations, see what their real physical condition is, if they’re able to play. At this moment it’s very difficult to tell.

“We’ll try and recover Christensen but, otherwise, it wouldn’t be the first time Gary has played in this role. We are talking about a great player and someone I trust.”

A BBC Three documentary, reveals the latest in a string of allegations against the singer.   The accusation was made by Kelly's former girlfriendKitti Jones, who was referring to another woman as a victim of abuse.

34-year old Jones claims that at some point during her two years of dating Kelly, which started in 2011, he introduced her to a girl"that he told me he 'trained' since she was 14, those were his words".

They accused him of"brainwashing' women in a set-up where he controlled what they wore, who they could speak to, and when they could use the bathroom or their phones.

Fayose reacts to FG's claim of discussing ceasefire with Boko Haram members

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, yesterday revealed that the Federal government is currently in talks with the sect members for possible ceasefire.

FG in talks with Boko Haram for possible ceasefire'' Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, yesterday disclosed that the Federal government is in talks with members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect for a possible ceasefire.

Lai Mohammed at a press conference in Lagos yesterday where he gave an update on the Dapchi abduction, said the government had to declare a one-week ceasefire to enable the Dapchi girls to be returned safely by Boko Haram members last Wednesday.

Unknown to many, we have been in wider cessation-of-hostility talks with the insurgents for some time now.  The talks helped to secure the release of the police officers’ wives and the University of Maidugurilecturers recently. And the talks did not stop thereafter. Therefore, we were able to leverage on the wider talks when the Dapchi girls were abducted.

As I said earlier, the insurgents decided to return the girls to where they picked them from as a goodwill gesture.  All they demanded was a ceasefire that will grant them a safe corridor to drop the girls. This is not new.  Even in larger war situations, safe corridors are usually created for humanitarian and other purposes.

Consequently, a week-long ceasefire was declared, starting from Monday, March 19. That is why the insurgents were able to drop the girls. This counters the conspiracy theories being propoundedin some quarters concerning why it was so easy for the insurgents to drop off the girls without being attacked by the military’’.

''There’s a campaign to tarnish my reputation'' ex-president Jonathan says

Former president Goodluck Jonathan, has alleged that there isa grand plan by some persons to sponsor campaigns that are aimed at tarnishing his image.

The former president made the allegation on his Facebook page. Recall that last week, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, alleged that the fomer president ''essentially shared'' N150 billion withdrawn from the CBN, two weeks to the 2015 general election.

In his Facebook page, Jonathan  who is currently monitoring the presidential runoff election in Sierra Leone, wrote

''It has been brought to my attention that while I am away promoting democracy in Sierra Leone, a campaign will be unleashed against me to falsely impugn my name using both faceless and identified persons. When I was in power I said my ambition is not worth the blood of any Nigerian. Evenout of power, I continue to hold that belief. What I will say however, is that no matter how far and fast falsehood has traveled, it must eventually be overtaken by truth. GEJ''.

His former media aide, Reno Omokri, about the same time last night, also posted a tweet allegingthat Yemi Osinbajo has sponsored a story to be published in major dailies today, quoting a source saying Jonathan stole Billions of Naira. See Reno'stweet below...

Breaking: MMM founder Sergey Mavrodi dies of heart attack in Moscow hospital

According to a report by Moskovsky Komsomolets, the founder of the MMM series of financial pyramid schemes, Mavrodi, died in Moscow at the age of 62.

Mavrodi was taken to a city hospital from a bus stop overnightMonday, March 26, after he felt weakness and pain in the chest area."The emergency team has failed to save his life.

He died this morning,"the report said. The preliminary cause of death is a heart attack.

Sergei Mavrodi created the company"MMM" in 1992. It quickly gained popularity and became the largest financial pyramid inthe history of Russia. The income of the members who joined it was paid out of the contributions of new arrivals, and when theflow of customers ceased to grow, non-payments began.

According to various estimates, the number of victims of the MMM has reached10-15 million people. In 1994, Mavrodi became a member of the Russian parliament. Then he announced that he was giving up his privileges: salaries and cars. Mavrodi stressed that he became a deputy only for the sake of immunity.

Two years later, before the presidential elections in 1996, he was stripped of his mandate. In 2007, Mavrodi was sentenced to 4.5 yearsin prison for defrauding 10,000 investors out of 110 million rubles ($4.3 million). All this time he left during the preliminary detention while the investigation was conducted.

Mavrodi claimed he is not the beneficiary of the donations and he is not used to flamboyant lifestyle. His true charges of which he was later convicted of is tax fraud though he claimed that MMM scheme is not a business, but a mutual donation program of which there is no law against such.In 2016, he announced the creation of his own crypto currency - Mavro.

In the first month, 33,000 people took part in the project.MMM stands for the first letters of the founders’ surnames - Sergei Mavrodi, Olga Melnikova and Vyacheslav Mavrodi. However, some people believe that it stands for Mavrodi Mondial Moneybox. The company got a lot of money from people - it was making about 50 million USD each day.

MMM started as a company that imported office equipment. However, there were some problems. In January 1992 the company was accused of tax evasion. This led to problems with the financial support of company's operation.

It struggled. But how did MMM achieve that? The company promised annual returns for up to 1000% to private investors. It sounded quite attractive, and a lot of people were eager to invest. With strong advertising andnaive people (no one heard about scams during that time), MMM became one of the most successful companies in Russia.

However, the success didn’t last for long. Eventually, the company was shut down in 1994 and it declared bankruptcy in 1997. Unfortunately, everything didn't end there. After 14 years, the company reopened as “MMM Global.”

MMM in Nigeria

MMM started in Nigeria in November 2015, when it launched a new website for Nigerian audience. In Nigeria, the company decided to lower the standards and promised profit was 30%per month. The primary target of MMM was unemployed people.
The number of people that signed up by the late 2016 was shocking - 2.4 million! They hoped that MMM would give them easy money and they had no doubts.
Unfortunately, after a year of work in Nigeria, MMM announced the freezing of all members accounts.According to the company, the reason was “systems overload and the negative attention brought on by the Government and mass media.
”After the freeze of members’ accounts, people started to panic. Sadly, the worst thing that happened was that the panic led them to even attempt to end their lives.
Things got so serious that even the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency asked the citizens to look out for each other and call the emergency number if someone was trying to kill himself.

Surprisingly, on January 2017 MMM Nigeriareopened. Also, on February 11th the company announced the lifting of the withdrawal limits on 2017 mavro.Investors were angry because of the delayed, and unfulfilled payments and some people left the scheme.

The investors who stayed loyal to the company were given assurance of getting back their money. But the company stated that in order to get the pre-2017 money, investors should add new money. And the more they add, the higher their chances to get the previous money back.

Though MMM came back, it could not regain the trust of the bulk of the investors failed to make huge impact it had when it was first introduced.About 110 countries suffered from MMM, including various African countries like Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe. People believed inthe company and wanted to get a lot of money almost out of nowhere.

2019: Northern leaders reject President Buhari, sayshe has performed poorly

Leaders of the Northern Elders Forum, Arewa Youth ConsultativeForum, Borno Elders Forum, and Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, have jointly scored President Buhari low and have asked him not to seek re-election in 2019.

The leaders met in Kaduna state yesterday where they issued a joint statement rejecting President Buhari as the candidate from the region in the 2019 election.

In a statement read by a member of the Northern Elders Forum and Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the northern leaders said almost three years into his administration, President Buhari has watched the economy, security and political fortunes of the region deteriorate. They added that little effort has been made to tackle the poverty that has continued to ravage the region and the entire country.

“We demand immediate and decisive steps to improve the security of lives and economic assets in the North by the federal and state governments. Too many communities are at the mercy of attacksfrom sundry groups of criminals who appear to have unchallenged access to space and weapons,” Baba- Ahmed said

The communique read in part,“The Summit noted that despite notable successes by the administration against the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East, many Northern communities still live under its threat. In many other parts of the North, communities are routinelyexposed to attacks from shadowy killers, and suspicion and anger at known and suspected killers are pitching Northerners against each other. Armed bandits terrorize rural communities almost at will, whilekidnappings and abductions have assumed alarming notoriety as crimes. The nation’s security and law and order assets are stretched beyond points where they can’t provide even the most elementary confidence and protection of citizens.

The North has rarely been so exposed to multiple and varied threats. Since 2015, Northerners have occupied positions with the potential to make decisive differences in the economy, security or political fortunes of the region. The hopes that leaderswho have exercised power since 2015 will reverse the abuse and neglect of the region in the previous decade have been betrayed. Weak governance, gross insensitivity and unacceptable levels of incompetence have been compounded by battles of attrition in which northerners have sapped each other’s’ strength. Weak and incoherent responses to provocations from other parts of the country around the imperatives of re-visiting the foundations and structures of the Nigerian state have created the false image of a North without its own positions beyond survival as the parasite ofNigeria. The Summit, having undertaken a thorough analysis of the state of the North and our communities, therefore urges all leaders, elders and communities to seek peaceful resolutions of conflicts between and among communities. Lives lost, injuries suffered, and losses incurred in any community must be redressed firmly and fairly. The roots of co-existence and inter-dependence in all Northern communities are much deeper than the barricades being erectedaround communities. All personswho are involved in killings and crimes against communities must be brought to book.

“The summit warns that no Northern politician should expectto be voted for in the next generalelection unless they demonstrate a willingness to champion a massive assault on poverty and underdevelopment in the North. In this regard, most political office holders from the North arehereby served notice that they have failed the test to lead the region towards economic recovery and growth. The summit asserts the rights of all Northerners to examine all options in political choices they will make in 2019. The leadership selection process must be critically interrogated to present the best leader to Nigeria as a whole. No one should take the North for granted, and it is not for sale. It will resist shedding its blood for any candidate and will critically scrutinize all politicianswho will seek our mandate. At this stage, all options are on the table, and politicians who have betrayed the hopes and mandatesof our people should be prepared to suffer rejection, in the same manner, the votes of theNorth rejected the attempt to continue with impunity, corruption and indifference of the previous regime.”

.Sauce Kid had reportedly obtained stolen bank card numbers and information from their owners. He then allegedly encoded the account numbers onto blank plastic cards.

We don’t have capacity to defend schools against terrorists – Military

On Friday, the Nigerian military said it doesn’t have enough work force to have a huge security presence in all Nigerian schools to avoid terrorist’s invasion or abduction of pupils.  Defence Spokesperson,Brigadier General John Agim, who was a guest on Channels Television Breakfast Programme, said due to the huge land mass, especially in the Northern East which is volatile to attacks, it is difficult to deploy troops to schools.

“The military doesn’t have the manpower to deploy (troops) to all the schools. It is not possible. People don’t know the land mass that we have in the North East andthe number of troops that are deployed in that place. The land mass is very large”he said.

Agim, who lauded efforts of the Federal government which has authorised civil defence and the police officers to secure schools in Northeast Nigeria, emphasised that the military cannot deploy toschools like some people are demanding.  “It is very difficult. It is not possible,” he said.

The Defence Spokesperson also blamed this lack of sufficient mancapacity on the abduction of over 110 schoolgirls in Government Girls Science and Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchi, Yobe State.

Explaining the role, which the military played in securing Northeast, Agim said the military wasn’t negligent as being rumoured but the troops were redeployed for other assignments few weeks before the terrorists, unfortunately, invaded the school in Dapchi.

“Where the military was deployed in Dapchi, they (the troops) were taken away. They were deployed for other assignments. So, it is possible that the Boko Haram canoperate in a place for a long time without the military presence. They were withdrawn out of Dapchi for another assignment on January 10 and this attack took place on February 19,”he said.

Dapchi, a remote town in Yobe State was a safe haven before the abduction of 100 schoolgirls in GGSTC. Although a sizeable number of schoolgirls have been returned, Nigerians are still left in shock over the attack, wondering which school or pupils will be the next target by the terrorists.

Hacking Allegations: PDP slams Presidency for falselyaccusing it of hacking into President Buhari’s personal data

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has pilloried the Presidency for falsely accusing it of hacking into President Buhari’spersonal data in the run up to the 2015 general election.

The party said President Buhari’s handlers decided to concoct the fabrications just to divert public attention from the overwhelming national and international rejection of their administration particularly the Bill Gates’ verdicton the economy.

PDP National Publicity Secretary,Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement on Saturday, said the Presidency, in its haste to dish out lies, failed to realize that contrary to its claims, the report they relied upon did not even mention the PDP or any of its officials and that it even exonerated former President Goodluck Jonathan as having no knowledge of the alleged scam.

Since the PDP has never been involved in hacking into the any person’s data, we decided to peruse the documents and publications in the Guardian UK relied upon by President Buhari’s senior special assistant, Mallam Shehu Garba, only to discover that none of them alluded to any involvement of the PDP or any of our officials or members, directly or indirectly of being in any way whatsoever a part of the said saga.

It is incontrovertible that the documents had clinically stated that, “there is no suggestion that Jonathan knew of the covert operation.” Nigerians must therefore be shocked at the extent the Buhari-led Presidency can go in its penchant for beguiling, contrivance, deceit, fabrication and lies.

Like a bunch of famished broom, it is clear that the sinking Buhari Presidency has become desperate in its bid to divert public attention from its multifarious failures and damning verdicts from national and international figures.

Furthermore, it is laughable for the Presidency to say that the PDP is afraid of elections. This is the same Presidency that recently informed Nigerians that President Buhari was delaying hisdeclaration for 2019 for fear of political opponents.

Who is afraid of election? Is it the PDP or the President’s All Progressives Congress (APC) thathas failed to conform with its constitutional provision of constituting a Board of Trustees (BOT); a party which is so afraid to conduct even internal election and had to extend the tenure of its executives because its stuck 2019 presidential candidate is even afraid of other possible contestants within its fold?

From the actions of the APC, it is manifest that the party is not onlymortally afraid of elections but engaging in all manner of shenanigans to suppress opposition in our nation.

Nigerians are aware of the show of shame in Kano state, earlier today, when the APC Federal Government, out of fear of our soaring support from Nigerians, used the police to attack our members and stopped our mega rally in Gaya Local Government Area of the state.

Our message to the Presidency and the APC is that lies, propaganda and use of force will not save them from the looming electoral disgrace as Nigerians are tired of their misrule and are now rallying on our repositioned PDP to salvage our nation come 2019.

Jose Mourinho is rattled: How the Manchester United boss has gone from hero to zero

That was yesterday. Now we see only an embittered old gunslinger, forever firing pot-shots at his critics among the disenchanted supporters of Manchester United and the sceptics of the media.

He has delivered so many barbs. There wassarcasm in saying we were ‘Einsteins’, know-alls who actually knew nothing. There was irony in calling us ‘idealists’ for speaking in praise of the spectacular football ofManchester Cityas a contrast tothe pedestrian play of his United team.

There was disdain in dubbing us ‘stupid’ forbeing interested in various controversies of the season. And there was unbridled scorn during his infamous 12-minute rant the other day when we were condemned as ‘idiots’.

Other football managers have their moans, of course they do, but nobody is as relentlessly hostile towards the outside world as Mourinho. And nobody looks as rattled just now.

The turning point for so many fans of Manchester United was the craven performance by the team in the home defeat to Sevilla that saw the club knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16.

Rarely, if ever, haveMan Unitedplayed withsuch lack of conviction and style in such a significant match. And everyone knows the tenor of their display was set by the safety-first, risk-averse strategy of Mourinho.

The response of the manager who used to have such swagger has been revealing. Mourinho has searched high and low for alibis that absolve him of the blame.

Pick and choose your favourites - that Manchester City have spent more money, that Mourinho inherited a horrible mess when he took over at United, that his players are scared and lack personality, that they don’t follow his tactics, that the crowd is too quiet, and that anyone who doesn’t understand this is bereft of intelligence.

The question is: Does he really think anyone is fooled by this truck load of arrant nonsense? Mourinho has been manager of Manchester United through three transfer windows, spending £300million on players and breaking the world transfer record.

He has had more than enough time and scope to acquire footballers with moral courage and the requisite personality for the Old Trafford stage. If they are still “scared to play,” then the manager has spent his money badly.

He contrasts what confronted him on arrival at United with the superior scenarioof Pep Guardiola across town at City. But what Mourinho never mentions is that his rival manager has transformed the style of City’s football in the same timeframe.

City had one season of transition under Guardiola - and they are now flying. United are still mired deep in their transition. Whose fault is that? As for the crowd being too quiet at Old Trafford? Well, all modern audiences are mocked for being a ‘library’ at times, and all managers know that the only way to generate noise is to provide action and entertainment.

We won’t stop blaming past administration – Presidency

On Saturday, the Presidency said it would not stop looking back and referring to “colossal atrocities in the management and disbursement of public funds” experienced under the past administration.

It said it was a mere wishful thinking to believe that Nigerians will forget such atrocities in a hurry. The Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President onMedia and Publicity, Laolu Akandesaid in a statement.

Akande said Nigerians have not forgotten the “severe damage caused the economy by the rampant abuse of public trust and grand larceny” that he claimed characterised the past administration.

He said, “Those who are asking our people to simply forget the blatant violation of public trust and the pillaging of the nation’s commonwealth witnessed in the past are saying wittingly or otherwise that we should forget where the shoe actually pinched and pretend as if the social raping of the nation never occurred.

How can we do that? We have a situation where a former First Lady came out openly to claim over $171m found in her accountsand you think Nigerians will simply overlook that. You have a situation where hundreds of billions have been recovered including the discovery of $43m cash in an apartment in Ikoyi, and you think Nigerians will simply forget that?”

Akande said the many pending corruption cases arising from the conduct of the past administration would benefit withthe establishment of special courts for the speedy trial of corruption and other criminal cases.

He added that the Presidency is beefing up the prosecution of such cases by planning to bring anumber of senior lawyers with high integrity ratings to play active roles and lead the prosecution of some of the cases.

“We have a number of lawyers, senior lawyers, people with solid reputations who have volunteered to assist in prosecuting the cases and soon the prosecuting agencies will be assigning specific cases to them,”he said.

African migrants are worse than terrorists, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says

Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that the flood of illegal migrants fromAfrica are worse than terrorists in the Sinai peninsula.Netanyahu said this while speaking at an event celebrating the Negev region held in Dimona.

The PM said that Israel has recently completed a fence along"more than 200 kilometers of the border with Sinai." He said the border fence constructed along Israel’s border with Egypt is holding back a potential "flood" of illegal migrants from Africa.

Without the fence, "we would be faced with … severe attacks by Sinai terrorists, and something much worse, a flood of illegal migrants from Africa," Netanyahusaid.Netanyahu's comments come on the heels of Israel's campaign to deport thousands of African migrants in the country.

The interior ministry says there are currently some 42,000 African migrants in Israel, mainly from Sudan and Eritrea, and the government has ordered that thousands of them must leave or face indefinite imprisonment.

Neymar: PSG move to Real Madrid hinges on Man Utd and their stunning transfer plans

Real Madrid would love PSG star Neymar to become their big Galactico signing at the end of the current campaign.

Reports have suggested the Brazil international is unhappy in his current surroundings and is already eying a fresh challenge at the end of the season.

Real and Manchester United have the financial might to sign him but it is the La Liga giants who appear to be his likelier destination.Yet Spanish newspaper El Confidencial say Neymar will only move to the Bernabeu if Bale is offloaded.

Express Sport understands Bale remains a top United target.

Jose Mourinho has already publicly declared there will be no forward arrivals this summer.

But the 54-year-old is a master of manipulation and Bale remains on the Portuguese’s wishlist.

And El Confidencial say United taking Bale off Real’s hands is the only way Zinedine Zidane’s side can sign Neymar.

Real will need to pay at least £200million to bring the player back to La Liga.In order to raise funds, though, they will need to flog several star players.

Real would love to keep Bale and play him alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Neymar in what would be a truly formidable attack.

But in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, the Wales international will be sold.

United can capitalise on that and may make Bale their latest wing wizard.Any deal for the former Tottenham star, though, could see Anthony Martial depart.

The France star is considering his future at Old Trafford following Alexis Sanchez’s January arrival and the arrival of another blockbuster player could force him out.

You are soulless and primitive'' FG slams PDP for alleging it staged Dapchi schoolgirls abduction

The Federal government has reacted to claims by the PDP that it stage-managed the abduction ofthe Dapchi school girls.

The Federal government in a statement signed by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, descriped PDP as a primitive and soulless party for making such an allegation. Read the statement below...

DAPCHI GIRLS' RELEASE: PDP PLUMBS THE DEPTHSOF INFAMY - FG

The Federal Government has accused the oppositionPeoples Democratic Party (PDP) of plumbing the depths of infamy for saying the adoption and release of the Dapchi schoolgirls were stage-managed.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the Minister ofInformation and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, saidsuch postulation portrays the PDP as an inhuman, insensitive, unpatriotic andunworthy party.

He said since the release ofthe Dapchi girls were negotiated by friendly countries and reputable international organizations, it would have taken a conspiracy of global proportion to have stage-managed the adoption and release of thegirls.
Alhaji Mohammed said the reaction of the PDP amounts to an expression of sour grapes, especially because the party failed woefully - when it was in power - to quickly resolve a similar abduction of schoolgirls.

''As we have said many times since the abduction of the Dapchi schoolgirls, no government is exempted from its own share of tragedies. What makes the difference is the way such tragedies are managed. Whereas it took the PDP all of 18 days to even acknowledge the abduction of the Chibok girls in 2014, the APC Federal Government acted promptly and responsively when the Dapchi schoolgirls were abducted 19 Feb. 2018, hence their quick release,'' he said.

The Minister said it is unfortunate that the PDP that failed woefully as a ruling party has also failedgrievously as an opposition party, going by its insensitive and crude response to the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls - a development that calls for non-partisan celebration.

''In its 16 years in power, the PDP redefined governance ascluelessness, massive looting of the public treasury and crudeexhibition of power. In its over three years in opposition, the PDP has again shown it does not understand the role of the opposition in a democracy. How then can the PDP convince Nigerians that it has learnt its lessons and that it is ready to rule the country again? Nigerians must say 'never again' to this primitive and soulless party,'' he said.

Alhaji Mohammed said the Federal Government has not been responding to theamateurish and jejune statements from the PDP precisely because the party has failed to learn the ropes of being an opposition party, ''even when we have advised them to take a crash course on the role of the opposition in a democracy.

''We broke our own rules this time because the PDP over-reached itself and scored an own goal at a time it could simply have congratulated the government and people of Nigeria on the release of the girls or just keep quiet,'' he said.
The Minister assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will intensify the ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining Chibok girls andreturn them safely to their families, just like over 100 other Chibok girls who have so far been released, unlike the PDP that could not secure the release of even one of the girls before it was booted out of power.

Freed Dapchi girl recounts how 5 of them died

In a telephone conversation with one Modu Geidam, Fatsima Abdullahi, who was released along with other girls to Dapchi in the early hours of Wednesday, March 21, confirmed that truly, five of the abducted students died in the Boko Haram camp.

However, Fatsima claimed that she only knew two of the girls that died, and identified them as Aisha and Maimuna (no last name).

Recall that 110 students of Government Girls Science Technical College (GGSTC), Dapchiwere on February 19, 2018 kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents.

The 91 girls were howeverbrought back their abductors on Wednesday, March 21 and dropped at the village square according to several reports.

Fatsima, a 15-year-old SS1 student of the school was number 73 on the list of the abducted students published by the FederalMinistry of Information, Daily Trust reports. She claimed the abducted girls were kept in an "underground space" were even aircraft couldn't spot them.

She said the five girls died due to the congestion in the vehicle which they were transported in after they were abducted from school.
