PDP wants Wada to be declared as winner of Kogi Guber polls


The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declare  its candidate and incumbent governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada, as the winner of November 21 governorship polls in the State after the death of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

FIFA donate 48 confiscated watches to charity

Nearly 50 luxury watches confiscated from football officials who had received them as “gifts” ahead of the World Cup in Brazil have been donated to charity, FIFA’s ethics committee said Thursday.

18 people killed in boko haram attack in Niger

Eighteen people were killed and 100 homes torched in an attack in the dead of night by Nigeria’s Boko Haram fighters on a village near southeastern Bosso, local authorities told AFP today.

“The toll is 18 dead, 11 hurt, almost 100 homes burned down” in the village of Wogom late Wednesday, the mayor of Bosso, Bako Mamadou, told AFP.

Prince Abubakar Audu was first reported to be dead by Sahara Reporters. After the news went viral, more details emerged as to how the former governor who was seeking another turn met his demise.

According to The Cable, sources say Audu complained of stomach cramps before going to bed last night.

He subsequently suffered a stroke this early today

Later in the afternoon, after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive, Audu suffered another stroke and passed away.

The 68-year-old is survived by wives and children.

10 litre of fuel sold for 3,000 in Akure

Black market dealers of petroleum products are smiling in Akure, the Ondo State capital, as a litre of fuel sells for N300.

Our reporter, who monitored the situation yesterday, observed that the few stations opened for business sold a litre for N140.

There were long queues at the stations, and with buyers almost engaging in a fight to buy fuel.

Meanwhile in Calabar, CRS, a litre goes for N350.

Chad prolongs state of emrrgency to contain boko haram

Chad’s parliament has decided to prolong a state of emergency in the southern Lake Chad region, prey to bomb attacks by the Nigerian Islamists of Boko Haram, a parliamentary source said Thursday.

The resolution was unanimously passed on Wednesday night by 147 members of parliament and will extend the special powers given to regional authorities until March 22, 2016.

32 killed 80 injured in bomb attack in yola yesterday
