Boko haram kills 14 in borno state
Fourteen people were killed, some of them decapitated, in a Boko Haram raid on a village in Borno State on Thursday , a resident and a civilian vigilante assisting the military said yesterday.
The attack happened at about 8:00 pm on Thursday in Kamuya, hometown of mother of the Chief of Army Staff,Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai.
It was previously attacked in a similar raid in July.

PDP wants Wada to be declared as winner of Kogi Guber polls
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declare its candidate and incumbent governor of Kogi State, Idris Wada, as the winner of November 21 governorship polls in the State after the death of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
FIFA donate 48 confiscated watches to charity
Nearly 50 luxury watches confiscated from football officials who had received them as “gifts” ahead of the World Cup in Brazil have been donated to charity, FIFA’s ethics committee said Thursday.
The watches, estimated to be worth 25,000 Swiss francs ($24,400, 23,000 euros) apiece, were given to streetfootballworld, an international network of groups which uses football to help young people.
18 people killed in boko haram attack in Niger
Eighteen people were killed and 100 homes torched in an attack in the dead of night by Nigeria’s Boko Haram fighters on a village near southeastern Bosso, local authorities told AFP today.
“The toll is 18 dead, 11 hurt, almost 100 homes burned down” in the village of Wogom late Wednesday, the mayor of Bosso, Bako Mamadou, told AFP.
