43 Million Nigerians at risk of Pverty....World Bank

Over 100m people living in the world will fall into extreme poverty by 2030 if urgent steps are not taken to check the devastating effects of climate change, the World Bank has said.

In a report titled ‘Shock Waves: Managing the Impacts of Climate Change on Poverty,’ which was released in Washington today, the bank said out of the number under the threat of extreme poverty, 43million were in Nigeria..

REPS PROBE N44.5m ALLEGATION FRAUD AGAINST CCT CHAIRMAN

The House of Reps today asked its C'ttee on Public Petitions to investigate a N44.5m fraud allegedly committed by the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Yakubu Umar.

Among the allegations was the payment of N1m in July 2011 from the coffers of the CCT to sponsor his own wedding.

Umar was also alleged to have spent N15.2m to purchase a Toyota Prado Jeep “without following due process.”

West Ham and Chelsea have been fined £40,000 and £50,000 respectively by the Football Association after both clubs admitted failing to control players.

BOKO HARAM : CHAD DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY

Chad has declared a state of emergency in the Lake Chad region after a series of raids and suicide bombings there by militant Islamist group Boko Haram, the government said on Monday.

Chad was instrumental in forcing Boko Haram to cede territory earlier this year, undermining its six-year campaign to carve out a Nigerian caliphate.

BOKO HARAM SUICIDE BOMBER KILL THREE NIGERIAN IN CAMEROON

2 female suicide bombers, suspected of belonging to Boko Haram have killed 3 Nigerians in a truck full of refugees in a town in Cameroon’s far north region, a LGA source, said.

Military sources had said earlier that they suspected the bombers’ target was a nearby mosque in Fotokol.
